Nitro / Mercury Pro Staff member Russ McVey says the Big Fish bite is on.
Bass are being caught on just about everything. Mistake, Spring Crawfish, and white / black back 100 and 200 series Bandit crankbaits fished around the single Cypress trees on the Texas side has been producing some nice stringers over the slot. On the main lake area, weightless rigged Wave Worm Tiki Stiks and Bass Pro Shops Stik-O’s in watermelon red and June bug red fished around the old pad fields are producing the bigger fish. Bass Pro Shops Lazer Eye chartreuse and white spinnerbaits are producing along the edges of the grass also when the wind is blowing.
If you enjoy flipping Cypress trees, you need to be on Caddo Lake. Good numbers of bass are being caught off the Cypress trees on the main lake. The 7/16oz. black-blue-purple or black-blue Southpaw Jig tipped with a black-blue Tiki Craw has been the best producer.
Good numbers of Crappie are being caught on the Texas Side around the Johnson’s Ranch area in the main channel. Shiners and jigs are the best bet.
The White bass are starting to run in the channel in the Johnson’s Ranch area also. Bass Pro Shops Stump Jumpers and Tail spinners are catching numbers of the whites and yellow bass.
