July and August 2015
Well, after all the rains and flooding the lake has finally settled down. The fish are going to be along the main channel and sloughs. Concentrate on the points and isolated trees off the main tree lines. The bass will begin to school up off the cypress tree points and channel bends.
Low light conditions, early and late look for the bass to be up shallow around the grass and Salvinia. Frog type baits, buzzbaits and other weedless topwater baits will be a good starting point. Once the sun is up and the shallow water bite slows head to the Cypress points and areas known to have school bass. Pop'r's, Tiny torpedoes and other types of topwater baits will produce when they surface. When they go down try blue crystal or black blue tail 6 inchTexas rigged worms. Crankbaits and tail spinners, like a Little George works great also.
Crappie are still on the brush tops in deep water. Shad colored jigs will be the best bet or maybe even try shiners.
Tight Lines, Russ
